Vins de Pays Primeurs

‘PRIMEUR’ OR ‘NOUVEAUX’ VINS DE PAYS  WINES

Every year, on the third Thursday in October, the ‘primeur’ or ‘nouveaux’ Vins de Pays wines are released to the delight of all those who enjoy fresh, soft and easy-drinking wines. They are vinified with a particular process designed to preserve their roundness and fruitness. Whilst they adhere to the rules governing Vins de Pays, these wines are also subject to a number of requirements which regulate their sale as ‘primeur’ wines:
  • A release date set on the 3rd Thursday in October,
  • A specific label showing the term ‘primeur’ or ‘nouveau’ as well as the year of harvest,
  • A particular approval by a tasting panel authorised to verify that the wines have the typical characteristics of ‘primeur’ wines.
To be fully appreciated, these should be drunk young.
